May - June 2025

This year the weather was more delayed, the heat came more slowly, so all the agricultural work was done with some delay compared to previous years. Both the solarium and the vegetable garden, the raspberry plantation, were all worked in May, compared to March-April. We hope to have a long and warm autumn, so that we can also enjoy the harvest. (photos 1,2)

The bushes purchased this year did not take the weather into account, they developed very nicely, so at the end of June, we already started cutting. (photo 3) The laying hens and ducklings also developed very nicely, (photo 4) and the sheep “sent us” from the sheepfold fresh and fluffy. (photo 5)

As for the grass on the field, thank God, we had enough to supply the hayloft for the winter, the spring was rainy so the “harvest” was rich. With little or no effort, everyone contributed what they could to the maintenance of the green spaces. (photos 6-8)

The May cherries, but also those from June, enriched our pantry, but also our bellies. We ate our fill, but we also worked hard. (photos 9,10)

We also picked medicinal plants for tea, acacia, lime, elderberry, etc. and the children made this activity fun too. (photos 11,12)

And to continue maintaining the Agro-zootechnical sector, we made some improvements to the cow feeders and poured some more sidewalks. (photo 13)

During the May 1st mini-vacation, the older girls, together with some young people from Piatra, took a 3-day trip to Bucharest, and the trip took place by train. Memorable moments. (photos 14,15) The other children, the small group, took trips near the house and were taken weekly to play football in the city. We say, fair compensation. (photos 16,17)

Other occasional activities were: medical check-ups, barbecue, going for a run, reading, singing, going up the hill, Petronel's birthday, END OF SCHOOL, START OF HOLIDAY!!! (photos 18-21)

On June 1st, of course we celebrated Children's Day. A barbecue at Casa Elim Izvoare, games, football, volleyball, gifts and in the evening fun at the fairs. (photos 22-25)

During this period our hearts were also filled with joy because of the visit of some very old friends, namely Udo and Karin and the second couple Hans Alt and his wife. We were happy to reminisce about old memories but also to talk about the present and the future. It is a great encouragement for us when God puts such beautiful people together, full of passion and the desire to do good. (photos 26-29)

In June we said goodbye to Ramona. She was reintegrated into the family, being taken care of by her paternal grandmother, a 75-year-old lady. Unfortunately she does not have the possibility to take care of all three of her grandchildren, so Ramona also had to say goodbye to her brothers, Andrei and Dumitrita. (photos 30-32)

Finally, we want to announce a great and useful achievement for us, which we managed to implement with the help of our friends in America. We dug a deeper well, with wide tubes that will allow us to clean it periodically and from which we have 6 m of water. The water from the public network has very low pressure or sometimes it is completely stopped until the commune's reserves are replenished, so Glory to God for this achievement too! (photos 33,34)

We also want to let you know that we need your support and prayers more than ever. In Romania, legislation and prices have changed a lot in the last year and the progress of the work in Dobreni is greatly affected by these changes. Financially, we are in deficit, and in terms of the imposed standards, authorization conditions, etc. it is also difficult for us to comply, adapt. We need light to make the best decisions and financial support to get through this turbulent period, which we hope will not last forever. With God and together with you, we continue forward!
